Competitive by nature, Lee Hook became an attorney because he always had an interest in being part of a system that provided a structure for a fair fight that would lead to a peaceful resolution of issues between parties. Being an advocate for others just seemed like the perfect fit. Lee's practice is focused on workers' compensation law.
Lee says that Peddicord Wharton takes care of their clients because we care. It is not about what happens to them, but instead is about what happens to us because we are a team and we win and lose together. There are two types of lawyers, problem makers and problem solvers. Lee believes that Peddicord Wharton attorneys are problem solvers, always thinking about what is best for clients. Being a great advocate means that you fight when you have to fight, but it also means that you provide a complete, objective and thorough analysis of the case and that you discuss all available options with your client so your client can come to an informed decision about how to proceed with a case. He says Peddicord Wharton has been successful throughout the years because we are a family -- lawyers and staff. Employees share similar values starting with a focus on family and share an Iowa work ethic where nobody outworks us. He enjoys the people he works with and has great respect for them as co-workers but also as people of character and substance.
On a Personal Note
For Lee and wife Kathy, their children are their number one interest. They currently have two children out of school and one in college whom they have enjoyed watching grow up. Lee coached all of their sports teams when they were young and still enjoys watching them play sports. Lee also enjoys golf, scuba diving and is a huge Iowa Hawkeye fan. Lee currently serves on the Drake University Law School Board of Counselors, and the national Board of Directors for Kids' Chance, a non-profit organization that benefits children of workers disabled or fatally injured in work-related accidents.
